Crews have been relying on Inmarsat safety services for secure, reliable satellite communications for over 40 years. Inmarsat is the satellite cornerstone of the Global Maritime Distress and Safety System (GMDSS) and was the first operator to comply with the requirements of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) for global safety communications. With the provision for commanders to access interoperable communications across air land and sea, a coordinated effort can be undertaken by landed teams as well as maritime and airborne crews communicating across department and between allied efforts if required.
