  • Rajeev Suri
    Chief Executive Officer

    Rajeev was appointed as Inmarsat’s Chief Executive Officer in March 2021. He joined Inmarsat from Nokia, where he was most recently President and Chief Executive Officer. From 2009 to 2014 Rajeev was Chief Executive Officer of Nokia Solutions and Networks. During his tenure as CEO, he transformed Nokia into a top two telecommunications infrastructure company, led the consolidation of the sector from ten to three major players, positioned Nokia as a leader in a world connected by 5G and shaped by increasing digitalisation and automation. Under his leadership, Nokia acquired the networks businesses of Siemens, Motorola, Alcatel-Lucent, including the famed Bell Labs, successfully expanded into enterprise vertical markets, created the world’s leading standalone telecom software business, significantly grew the annual recurring revenue patent licensing business and engineered the return of the Nokia brand to mobile phones.

    Rajeev has lived and worked in the Middle East, Asia, Africa and Europe. In March 2021, he was reappointed as a Commissioner of the United Nations Broadband Commission. He was Co-Chair of the digitalisation task force for the B20 and member of various digital and healthcare committees at the World Economic Forum. Rajeev was a member of the Chinese Premier’s Global CEO Council from 2014 to 2020, a recipient of China’s Marco Polo award; the highest honour awarded to an international business person from the Chinese government. Rajeev is an engineering graduate in Electronics and Communications and has been awarded an Honorary Doctorate by Manipal University. 

  • Tony Bates
    Chief Financial Officer

    Responsibilities

    Tony is responsible for the financial management of the Group including planning, control, capital structure and investor relations, the provision of financial and commercial support to decision makers across the Group, and a financial operations service.

    Previous roles include

    • Group CFO of YellGroup Plc (hibu plc); 
    • Group CFO and then COO of ColtGroup S.A.; 
    • Group Finance Director at EMI plc.
  • Jat Brainch
    Chief Commercial and Product Officer 

    Responsibilities

    Jat is responsible for Inmarsat’s evolving commercial and product strategy and roadmap to improve business performance and commercial operations. In her role, she focuses heavily on customer insight to ensure the company continues to lead the industry in advanced, customer-centric products and commercial services that are designed specifically for mobility and Government users.

  • Phillipe Carette
    President, Aviation

    Philippe was appointed President of Inmarsat’s aviation business in November 2021. He is responsible for the company’s global commercial strategy and execution in inflight Wi-Fi, airline operations, safety, business and general and UAV markets.

    Philippe brings more than 30 years’ experience in aviation, technology and aerospace. He has a proven track record of business transformation that drives value for the business whilst delighting its customers, and will use this experience to support Inmarsat’s growth ambitions.

  • Mike Carter
    President, Enterprise

    Responsibilities

    Mike leads a team focused on the provision of satellite connectivity and business solutions to land-based businesses. Prior to his appointment he filled a number of roles in Global Government and Enterprise Business Units.

  • Natasha Dillon
    Chief People Officer

    Responsibilities

    Natasha is responsible for creating and implementing Inmarsat’s people strategy, including developing excellent leadership, building an effective and capable organisation, delivering a compelling employee value proposition for our people and driving strong performance.

    Previous roles include

    • Korn Ferry Hay Group, Senior Client Partner (2015 – 2016); 
    • Hay Group, Associate Director (2012 – 2015); 
    • Ernst and Young, Senior Manager / Manager (2010 – 2012);

  • Barry French
    Chief Marketing & Communications Officer

    Barry was appointed as Inmarsat’s Chief Marketing & Communications Officer in April 2021. An award-winning, multi-industry leader in communications, marketing and corporate affairs, he joins Inmarsat from Nokia, where he was Chief Marketing Officer from 2014-2020. During his time at the company, Barry was responsible for fundamentally repositioning Nokia Siemens Networks as a ‘mobile networks specialist’, rebuilding the Nokia brand, amplifying its value by >4X, and strengthening financial communications. He pioneered an award-winning sustainability programme and was a key member of the executive leadership team that drove the Alcatel-Lucent acquisition.

    Barry started his career in the world of political consulting in the United States and has worked at companies including the Sawyer/Miller Group, Dell, Raytheon, United Airlines and Nokia. A Political Science graduate, Barry holds a Masters in International Affairs from Columbia University’s School of International and Public Affairs in New York.

    At Inmarsat, Barry is responsible for Inmarsat’s marketing, communications and government affairs with a remit to sharpen customer focus, drive customer engagement and revenue generation to the next level, ensure Inmarsat is an effective and engaged participant in key policy discussions, and further enhance employee engagement. 

  • Fredrik Gustavsson
    Chief Strategy Officer

    Fredrik was appointed as Inmarsat’s Chief Strategy Officer in June 2021, reporting to the company’s CEO, Rajeev Suri.  A highly accomplished Strategy and Corporate Development Director, he has a proven track record of delivering substantial added shareholder value for companies across a range of industry sectors with a core focus on aviation and transport.

    Prior to joining Inmarsat, Fredrik was a UK-based managing director of Teneo, the global CEO advisory firm and, from 2012-2019, was Head of Strategy and M&A at easyJet. 

    At easyJet, he was responsible to the Management Board across a broad strategy agenda and M&A execution, which included the acquisition of parts of Air Berlin, securing key airport slots for the multinational airline group and the company’s investment in the travel search engine DoHop.

    Fredrik was also a Vice President of Investment Banking in the UK at Credit Suisse, the leading global investment bank, from 2006-2012.  As a senior member of the team that applied Credit Suisse’s proprietary HOLT valuation framework, he helped to deepen client relationships through strategic and valuation advisory services across M&A and equity capital markets transactions.

    From 2003-2006, he was a corporate finance and strategy specialist at McKinsey & Co in London.

    Fredrik has an MSc in both Electrical Engineering and Financial Economics.

  • Peter Hadinger
    Chief Technology Officer

    Responsibilities

    Peter became CTO in 2018. He leads the engineering teams responsible for delivering Inmarsat’s future satellites, network infrastructure, terminal technologies and spectrum resources. CTO delivers the differentiated and reliable global communications capabilities that make a difference in the lives of our customers and ensure that Inmarsat remains a leader in enabling the connected world.

    • Inmarsat, President U.S. Government Business Unit (2013 – 2018); 
    • Inmarsat, VP GX Government (2011 – 2013); 
    • TRW Northrop Grumman Space, leadership roles in Engineering and Business Development (1981 – 2011).
  • Alison Horrocks
    Chief Corporate Affairs Officer and Company Secretary

    Responsibilities

    Alison is responsible for Group wide risk management, global compliance, corporate governance, group legal, market access and regulatory policy. She acts as Company Secretary to the Board and its Committees. She is a member of the Executive Management Team and Chairman of the Trustee Company for the Inmarsat UK pension plans. Alison also manages our teams in India and China and covering Russia, the Stans and Turkey. 

    Previous roles include

    • Group Company Secretary of International Public Relations plc, a worldwide public relations company, for 11 years prior to joining Inmarsat.
  • Todd McDonell
    President, Global Government

    Responsibilities

    Todd is responsible for leading and driving Inmarsat’s government business in all regions of the world outside of the USA. This includes developing strategies that deliver greater operational capability to governments and providing holistic solutions that meet government telecommunications requirements.

    • Inmarsat, VP Global Government Solutions 2013 – 2018; 
    • TC Communications, CEO 2003 – 2013.
  • Susan Miller
    CEO, Inmarsat Government, Inc

    Responsibilities

    Susan is responsible for defining and implementing the overall strategy of expanding Inmarsat’s leadership position across U.S. defense, intelligence, homeland security and civilian organisations; delivering innovative customised, secure communication capabilities to land, maritime and aero users; meeting mission-critical connectivity needs around the world. Inmarsat Government manages a robust partnership programme that includes working with best-of-breed channel partners to deliver Inmarsat’s reliable satellite communication services and solutions to U.S. government end users worldwide.

    • MTN Satellite Communications, Executive VP, Strategy and Corporate Development (2012-2013); 
    • Spacenet Integrated Government Solutions, Inc., CEO (2009 – 2012); 
    • SkyTerra, Inc., Senior VP, Satellite Services (2007 – 2009);

  • Ben Palmer OBE
    President, Maritime

    Ben was appointed President of Inmarsat’s maritime business in November 2021. He is responsible for the company’s global commercial strategy and execution in merchant marine, offshore energy, fishing, maritime passenger and leisure markets.

    Ben brings 25 years’ experience of driving growth, performance improvement and transformation in complex technology-heavy businesses. He has a track record of building high performing teams, is committed to placing the customer at the heart of what we do, and enjoys building deep relationships to deliver value.

  • Jason Smith
    Chief Operations Officer

    Responsibilities

    Jason is responsible for Inmarsat’s global operations and service delivery, including the satellite fleet and ground network, business and IT systems, business transformation programmes, global service delivery and distribution, assuring the quality of service and customer experience excellence.

    Previous roles include

    • Rolls-Royce: President Nuclear/COO Nuclear/ President Submarines (2009 – 2015); 
    • AWE: Deputy Managing Director/Programme and Business Management Director (2000 – 2009).
  • Andrew Sukawaty
    Chairman

    Andy is the Chairman of Inmarsat having previously been Executive Chairman and CEO. He is currently a Director at RELX PLC, Matrix42, Hg Capital LLP as well as Founding Partner at Corten Capital. 

    Andy has over 36 years’ experience in the Telecommunications, Media and Technology (TMT) sector in senior leadership roles in wireless, tech, Cable TV and satellite. He has led four IPOs, managed multiple private equity led buyouts and acted as an advisor to private equity firms. Previously Andy was the CEO of Sprint (wireless) and NTL Ltd. He was the Chairman of Ziggo (Euronext), Telenet and Xyratex (Nasdaq) and a Director of Sky PLC, O2 PLC and Powerwave Technologies.

    Andy holds a BBA and MBA respectively from the University of Wisconsin and Minnesota.

  • Max Fowinkel
    Non-Executive Director

    Max joined Warburg Pincus in 2007 and is a Partner and Managing Director. He is a Director of 1&1 Ionos and MAX (fka Leumi Card). He was involved in the firm’s investments in inexio, IPAN, Network International, Accelya, easycash, MACH, Evenex, Blue Yonder and United Internet. Prior to joining the firm, he worked at McKinsey & Company. Max holds a degree in Mechanical Engineering and Business Administration from Technische Universität Berlin and an MBA from Harvard Business School.

  • Eric Hargrave
    Non-Executive Director

    Eric is responsible for origination, execution, and management of direct investments in the technology, media and telecom sectors across Europe, as well as geographic coverage for the Nordics at Ontario Teachers’. Eric currently serves on the board of Memora. Prior to joining Ontario Teachers’, Eric worked in investment banking at RBC Capital Markets, most recently as part of the London based Power, Utilities and Infrastructure group.

  • General C Robert Kehler (Rtd)
    Non-Executive Director

    General Kehler served on the Inmarsat plc Board for six years as a Non-Executive Director until his resignation on 4 December 2019. General Kehler retired from the US Air Force on 31 December 2013 with over 38 years of service. Over his career, he served in a variety of important operational and staff assignments, and successfully led large organisations with global responsibilities. In his final two major command assignments he oversaw a global network of satellite command and control, communications, missile warning and launch facilities, and was directly responsible to the Secretary of Defense and President for the plans and operations of all U.S. forces conducting strategic deterrence, space, and cyberspace operations. General Kehler is a Non-executive Director of MAXAR Technologies, a Trustee of the Mitre Corporation and Director of Monocle Acquisition Corporation.

  • Pascal Keutgens
    Non-Executive Director

    Pascal focuses on the healthcare and consumer sectors and is also responsible for investments in Germany, France and the Benelux for the Canada Pension Plan (CPP). Prior to joining CPP Investments, Pascal was a Partner at Bregal Freshstream, where he was responsible for their Private Equity activities in France and the Benelux. Previously Pascal was a Partner at Doughty Hanson, where he spent 13 years focusing on mid-market buyouts across Europe. Pascal trained as an accountant at PwC.

  • Christoph Mueller
    Non-Executive Director

    Christoph has over 25 years’ experience in the aviation, logistics and tourism industry. He was the Chief Digital and Innovation Officer of Emirates Group and former Chief Executive Officer of Malaysia Airlines. Christoph was the CEO of Irish airline Aer Lingus where he repositioned the loss-making company as a service airline to compete with low budget alternatives. He is a qualified accountant.

  • Ashvin Malkani
    Non-Executive Director

    Ashvin joined Ontario Teachers’ in 2002 and has nearly 20 years of private equity investing experience. He currently also serves on the Board of Directors of 24-7 Intouch, Camelot Lottery Solutions, Compass Datacenters and Premier Lotteries Ireland. Prior to joining Ontario Teachers’, Ashvin was an Analyst at TD Capital, the private equity arm of TD Bank Financial Group.

  • Salim Nathoo
    Non-Executive Director

    Salim is a Partner in the Tech & Telco team of Apax Partners and is based in London. He is also a member of the Investment Committees for the Apax Buyout Funds, Apax Digital Fund and Apax Global Alpha. Salim joined Apax Partners in 1999 specialising in the Tech & Telecom space. He has both led and participated in a number of key deals including ThoughtWorks, Candela, EVRY, GlobalLogic, iGATE, Orange Switzerland, Sophos, SMART Technologies, Weather Investments, Tim Hellas, Promethean and Mobifon. Prior to joining Apax Partners, Salim was an Engagement Manager with McKinsey & Company where he specialised in advising clients in the telecom sector.

  • René Obermann
    Non-Executive Director

    René joined Warburg Pincus, a leading private equity firm, as a Partner and Managing Director in February 2015. Subsequent to investments made by Warburg Pincus, he assumed roles as Chairman of the Board at 1&1 IONOS and was a Supervisory Board Member at inexio. He is a Member of the Board of Directors of Airbus. René worked as CEO of Ziggo in The Netherlands in 2014 until the merger with LibertyGlobal’s UPC. Prior to Ziggo, René worked at Deutsche Telekom Group (DT) from 1998 until 2013. After running DT’s mobile division (T-Mobile International), he was appointed as CEO of Deutsche Telekom in November 2006, where he remained until December 2013. René began his career with a business traineeship at BMW in Munich. Next, he founded his own business in 1986: ABC Telekom, a company distributing telecommunication equipment and providing technical services. After the acquisition of ABC Telekom by Hutchison Whampoa in 1991, René became Managing Partner of the resulting company: Hutchison Mobilfunk. Between 1993 and 1998, he was CEO of that company.
